From the rendezvous point at Pisa airport the 5 night tour covers the area of Chianti with its challenging roads and breathtaking beauty. Food is plentiful and delicious and (when not riding) wine is in good supply.

Motorbikes are collected on the first day (early afternoon) followed by a relatively gentle ride to the first hotel. Participants travelling from far-a-field, (who may be 'enjoying' jet lag) may prefer the option of being driven to the first hotel (your bike will be taken by trailer to the hotel). The following days and nights will present many opportunities for some exciting rides through beautiful countryside interspersed with luxury and relaxation

This tour has no motorway riding and concentrates on good country roads. We expect a probable maximum of 1200-1500km (c.1000 miles). Riding can be moderated between some go-for-it sections and some more relaxed sections.

Days 2 and 4 may be used as rest days, some private touring or for local area rides with the guide.

This 5 night tour follows the itinerary below.

The meeting point is Pisa airport at 2.30pm on the start date of your tour. If you cannot meet at this time, please contact us.
From the meeting point you will be taken by minibus to the DucatiTours base for a briefing and allocation of bikes.
There are changing facilities available and there will be time to sort out any small items you would like to carry with you.

For our first afternoon's ride we have a medium speed, 2 hour ride with plenty of curves to the first hotel in the area of Volterra. All riders are provided with a radio based intercom for bike to bike communication, a route book and map. We advise all participants to bring a mobile phone that works in Italy. This first ride is normally completed in a group with the tour leader. The first hotel provides dinner for all clients (included in the tour price). You are welcome to go and find your own restaurant should you prefer (but please remember drinking and riding is strictly not tolerated!)

As we will be staying at the same hotel this evening, today can be filled with the offered optional tour or the choice to go and explore the roads on your own. The optional tour with our guide will present a trip south, towards the southern limit of Tuscany (through Le Crete, Massa Marittima, Monte Amiata) around to Cortona and back up through Arrezzo, past Siena (having used one of our favourite biking roads) and back to Volterra.

We travel across the heart of the Chianti Classico region in order to reach our next hotel stop near Reggello. The route is anything but direct covering roads that climb, bend and dip for as long as you want. Surfaces are generally good (watch out for gravel/sand!) but we have found a number of speed cameras starting to appear (all in built-up areas at least). A lunch stop will be taken in the Siena area before a blast up the SS2 Cassia and a return on the SS222 Strada del Vino. Our hotel supplies dinners for both evening stays (included in the tour price) from a selection of local specialities.

As we are using this hotel, a converted medieval Villa, for two nights, today is either a rest day, for personal touring of the area or you may join our optional tour into the wilds of the Casentino (the highest roads on this tour, climbing approx. 800m) and the Mugello.

The last full day is used to wind cross country through the Montalbano hills, passing a couple of Medici villas and the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci, before arriving back at our base of Lucca for the last night. We try and arrive back at Lucca to give everyone "un-wind" time by the pool. A farewell dinner is organised (included in the tour price) in one of Lucca's finest restaurants with transport provided.

The final morning bikes are returned to the DucatiTours' base and all participants are transported back to the airport.
