This 5 night tour takes you up through the Appenines from Tuscany crossing into Emilia Romagna at around 1300m (4000ft) above sea level. The roads range from tight curves through to open sweepers with good visibility (although with a number of severe drops!). The tour starts with our minibus meeting you at Pisa airport and transporting you to the fleet of 749s. After a short ride to get to know the area we will spend the first night in the Villa Corte Degli Dei on the edge of historic Lucca. From Lucca a direct ascent into the Appenines and on to the home ground of Ferrari and Ducati (not to mention Maserati, Lamborghini and others).

This tour has little or no motorway riding and concentrates on good country roads. The riding on our mountain tours (such as this) is more focused/high speed than some of our other tours but pace will be based on the requirements of the group. Daily distances are not long but the roads can be hard work!

Some hotels have pools (although not all on this tour). All days move from one location to another so there is no 'rest' day.

There are trips to the impressive Galleria Ferrari and Ducati factory museum (entrance tickets included in the tour price). Although we cannot confirm it at time of going to press, DucatiTours are working towards gaining access to the Ferrari factory as part of this tour.

This 5 night tour takes in some large climbs and descents and has a more concentrated percentage of riding than other tours. The itinerary is below:

The meeting point is Pisa airport at 2.30pm on the start date of your tour. If you cannot meet at this time, please contact us.
From the meeting point you will be taken by minibus to the DucatiTours base for a briefing and allocation of bikes.
There are changing facilities available and there will be time to sort out any small items you would like to carry with you.

We set off for a circular ride returning to Lucca for the first night's stop. All riders are provided with a radio based intercom for bike to bike communication, a route book and map. We advise all clients to bring a mobile phone that works in Italy. During the evening we move into Lucca centre for the first dinner (included in the tour price).

After morning starting with a traditional breakfast (Italian style) we will get into the day's ride, including some sweeping curves, left right flicks and a number (at least 50!) of hairpin bends. We will pass the winter ski resorts, many agriturism establishments and the occasional hill(!). The descent from the mountains brings us to our overnight stay in Maranello, home of Ferrari

This is the closest to a rest day on this trip! We start with a stroll over to the Galleria Ferrari and often follow this up with a trip to peer through the Fiorano fencing to see what's being tested (Rossi trying out an F1 car again perhaps). From Maranello we do the short ride to Bologna for lunch and then a visit to the Ducati factory and museum. We spend the night in our selected hotel (which has also hosted the launch of the Ducati Sport Classic range) in the countryside between Bologna and Modena.

Time to cross those Appennines again! We follow in the footsteps of Nuvolari, Fangio, Pasolini (to name but a few) over the famous Raticosa pass which climbs to 1260m above sea level in 46km before dropping 800m in 7km. The afternoon includes endless climbs and descents on the rugged hills between Bologna and Florence before we arrive in Fiesole for our overnight stop and much needed rest in a 14th century villa.

From our Fiesole hotel we retrace our steps to ascend the Futa pass before turning west and winding our way back towards our Lucca base. For the final night we return to the hotel Villa Corte degli Dei. The farewell dinner is organised in Lucca with a well earned drink for everyone! (All included in the tour price)

The final morning bikes are returned to the DucatiTours' base and all clients are transported back to the airport.
