The meeting point is Pisa airport at 12.30pm on the start date of your tour. If you cannot meet at this time, please contact us and we shall make alternative arrangements.
From the meeting point you will be taken by the support vehicle to the DucatiTours base for a briefing and allocation of bikes.
There are changing facilities available and there will be time to sort out any small items you would like to carry with you.
When the group is ready we shall set off for an (approx.) 3 hour ride through the hills to the north of Lucca before heading west and descending to our selected hotel on the tip of the famous Cinque Terre.
If any riders require items such as radio based intercoms, maps or road books, please let us know before your arrival. We advise all participants to bring a mobile phone that will work in Italy.
Dinner is provided as part of the tour price in Lucca's historic centre. (Please remember drinking and riding is strictly not tolerated!)
The precise time for morning starts will be agreed by the group at the inital briefing but we generally don't get started too early!
The second day covers the Ligurian coast passing thrugh Genoa before heading inland for our next hotel.
Today we will use the autostrada network to pass the uninspiring flatlands between Apennines and Alps and the industry of Milan before finding ourselves in the alps and our destination on Lago di Como.
We will wind between and other montains for a short day (in terms of distance) circling around Lake Como and on to Lago di Iseo. The riding today can be tailored according to the requirements of the group.
The next day may be used as a rest day or there will be the option of following the guide for local circuits. The Same hotel is used for the 6th night
We head into the higher peaks of the Alps today winding over the delightful Passo Tonale, Madonna di Campiglio, and many other roads where hairpin bends become almost run of the mill. We will be staying in the resort hotel of the Bagni Nuovi (new baths) near Bormio where we can relax in the hot thermal tubs and showers in order to prepare for tomorrow's ride..........
Two words. Stelvio Pass. Voted europes best road by Top Gear. You can form your own opinion this morning as the hotel is located right at the start of this less than straight road. After Stelvio we pass through the chic resort of Cortina before descending from the mountains and running the last section of autostrada to our destination of the Serenissima Republica, Venice.
No riding today, at least not on bikes. We will be giving ourselves a well earned rest and the chance to look aroun dthe magical Venice.
We will follow the coast of the upper adriatic before heading inland and back into the Apennines for our destination just south of Bologna. The hotel we use is run by a bike mad Italian who often can be tempted to join us for a ride!
The last full day will be used to thread our way from Bologna to Lucca. Probably we will use a less than direct route, but it does depend on the requirements of the group.
The final morning bikes are returned to the DucatiTours' base and all participants are transported back to the airport (or any other local location if your holiday is not ending here).
